Jerry was my cousin. Because he was almost ten years older than me, I never really got to know him until this past summer. My first, my only memory of him from before this past July was of when I was about five and he had me ride the family dog Lucky like it was a horse. I was terrified, but Jerry thought it was hilarious. He always had a great sense of humor. Over the summer, during the World Cup, the extended family was here in Northridge visiting. We ate dim sum for lunch, and afterwards, the women (whom outnumbered the men roughly three to one) wanted to go shopping. The men wanted to watch soccer, so Jerry suggested he take my grandfather and 11 year-old brother to a neraby Hooters to watch the game. He was always willing to do a lot for the family, and what he did best was talking to each of us, even those who don't speak a word of English. Jerry made a great effort because he genuinely cared about our lives and how we were doing. Because of this friendly nature, he will always be loved by all, his family, his friends, his girlfriend. We would all be better for it to learn from him and talk too much, laugh too hard, and have too many people in our lives to love.
